How to use Gitlab

Git is the technology for version control and Gitlab or Github are companies who provide this remote repository hosting service.

register account

There are different servers for Gitlab. For our class, we have our own Gitlab server (GitLab Self-managed server). Therefore, the account on gitlab.com(GitLab SaaS) is not for our class. We will create account for you with your UCLA email.

create your repository or fork one from existing repository

create blank repository

click the cross on the up-left corner and click "New project/repository" click create blank project and follow its instruction (repository name, privacy). gitlab_create_repo

fork a repository

open an existing repository and click the fork one the up-right corner. fork_repo
